Puzzle Bobble
Puzzle Bobble is generally regarded as the predecessor and original template for Bubble Shooter. The players are the two little dragons from the original Bubble Bobble, which was already a classic game on the Amiga and C64. However, the final breakthrough came with the game on video machines in pubs. Here, anyone could try their hand at Puzzle Bobble and the game principle became known to the whole population.

Puzzle Bobble unlike Bubble Shooter, the game is controlled with the keyboard and not with the mouse. The game starts when you press the "Enter" key. The arrow keys are used to control the aiming device and the space bar is used to shoot the coloured balls. Every few seconds, the upper edge of the playing field comes closer to you, making the game more difficult. As with Bubble Shooter, the aim is to clear all the coloured balls using chains of 3 or more bubbles. Once you have achieved this, you are presented with a new challenge in a new level. Puzzle Bobble is characterised above all by playable figures, which you can usually clear quite quickly with a skilful shot.

The keyboard controls certainly take some getting used to, which is why Bubble Shooter has been able to assert itself. However, the nostalgic value is unbroken and older players will certainly still appreciate the little dragons. The playable characters keep the player sweating and it takes a very quick mind to find the shortcut. A great game even after all these years, even if it has a more than just good successor.

Rating of Puzzle Bobble
The game impresses above all with its graphical charm, taking you straight back to the days of Comodore and SNES. The music is also fun to play - the game experience itself is nice and fast, but the long-term motivation lags somewhat behind the newer bubble shooters.
